UNST 140 African American Experience Reflection

Brittney Woods

Having African American Experience as a course is good for those who want to learn more about their ancestors and their achievements. This course teaches you to be more open to where we as a Black people come from and what was sacrificed so that we can live as we do today. Before taken this course I never really took pride in who I was or where I come from; but now that I have taken this course I can take pride in who I am and be proud of my African American people. The African American Experience course definitely opened my eyes to a new perception of things. I understand now that I as an African American should take pride in who I am and where I come from, I should hold my head up and be proud to be African American. This is a very important course for others to take, especially for those who are unaware of where they come from and what was done in order to be where we are today. To learn how lives were taken and sacrificed so that we could have equal rights and justice. This course has been an enlightening experience and I believe students should take courses like this so that they can be mindful of things that went on before we were born, and to have knowledge of the origins we come from.

Activism Reflection

Activism gives inspiration that things can change if a stand is taken. When something needs to be done or changed you do it by talking about it; you get out and get active towards that change you’re trying to make. In past history our ancestors did not created change by sitting around, t...
